Rocktoberfest 2017

Closing the Season Right

As the climbing season in the Red draws to close, it’s a good time to look back on yet another successful Rocktoberfest. Joined by our fantastic sponsors and hundreds of climbers from around the world, we had a blast celebrating climbing in the Red River Gorge and supporting the RRGCC.

The party kicked off Friday night, as a steady stream of climbers poured in to check out our fantastic vendors showing off their wares and raising money so the RRGCC can continue to secure and support the land you own. The hangar at Land of Arches also filled up with climbers eager to watch the No Man’s Land Film Festival, which Ale-8-One kicked off with a 1% for the Planet partnership with the RRGCC announcement.

Saturday brought beautiful weather for climbing, and trail work- the Access Fund Trail Team put on a fantastic trail day at the Motherlode, sponsored by Trango and several volunteers who chose to spend part of their weekend giving back to the land we climb on.

On Saturday night, everyone once again gathered at Land of the Arches campground to party, watch Outdoor Research’s short films series, and dance the night away, thanks to our emcee Kris “Odub” Hampton and DJs David Lawrence and Roman Holliday. But first, the RRGCC was thrilled to present Access Fund with a check to pay off the the mortgage of the Miller Fork Recreational Preserve. That’s right, the MFRP is paid for in full!

Rain rain go away

Sunday, despite the rain, our fantastic clinics helped climbers learn new skills and elevate their climbing, all while raising money for the RRGCC.

We’d like to once again thank all the climbers who attended and our fantastic sponsors who make Rocktoberfest possible and help the RRGCC continue its mission:

Thank you all and we can’t wait to see you next year!
